April bug lunchBug lunch!
My kids never tire of looking at bugs, touching bugs and running screaming from bugs. Bugs bring excitement to our kids' day- so I know they will get a kick out of a bug inspired lunch. There are so many kinds of bugs, the themes are endless. Have fun deciding if you are going to create a cute bug or gross bug lunch!
Don't forget their healthy snack in a snackTaxi!

appetizersTIP: Next time you get stumped for a lunchbox food idea, visit your grocery store "frozen appetizer" section. Kids LOVE mini food- and you will find plenty of choices there; mini pizzas, tacos, pigs-in-a-blanket, dumplings, cheese puffs... a child's nibbling dream come true (mine too).

FINDS: Add FUN to that lunch box! Colorful snackTaxi snack bags have saved me from my "plastic baggie guilt" while creating smiles on my kids faces! The Ladybug, stickers, plush toy, cherry lip gloss key chain, snack/treat box, rubber bracelets, notepad and poppers, can be found at Celebrate Express. Keep an eye out at your local bakery for cute pastries like my ladybug treat- even a simple addition like this delivers big smiles!

No Smucker's Jam
Strawberry Jam

My all time favorite jam brands to buy for my family are Smucker's and Knott's. Especially Knott's- since my parents bought me my first jar at Knott's Berry Farm Amusement Park when I was a kid... the smell of fresh strawberry jam wafting between roller-coasters. Every time I see the jam taste-testjar, I think "happy"!  They would never both betray my adoration with High Fructose Corn Syrup as the first ingredient... would they? AAAHHHHH NOOOOO!
---- Trader Joe's to the rescue! Blowing away the competition in the jam department, the "just like Smuckers & Knott's" winner:  "TJ's Strawberry Preserves made with FRESH Strawberries". TJ's "Organic Reduced Sugar Strawberry Preserves" was not a taste match, but very good and well liked by the kids, in case you want to safely give lower sugar a try!

Sending your child to school with a snack is required at our Elementary school. Every day I have to come up with a lunch AND a snack that my kids will eat, not trade!  So when Kyla from Nature's Path contacted me with 3 new kid friendly chewy granola bar flavors, I was thrilled. She was right!  Chococonut, Berry Strawberry and Peanut Choco...sooo yummy!  My kids loved them all equally. Me too, as usual. Perfect for the snack on-the-go and lunchbox treat. I let my kids taste the Chococonut...then hid the rest for me.
